First Shot of the Convention Floor

I will have to update later with location of Alabama delegation...

Red, White, Blue...and Amber?

The Convention Committee just released the line-up for the musical talent for next week and I am THRILLED that Amber Riley will be singing the national anthem on Tuesday night!

The rest of the line-up is not too shabby, either:
*Tuesday, September 4 (Time Warner Cable Arena)*
DJ Cassidy
Ledisi
Amber Riley (national anthem)

*Wednesday, September 5 (Time Warner Cable Arena)*
DJ Cassidy
Jessica Sanchez
Branford Marsalis (national anthem)

*Thursday, September 6 (Bank of America Stadium)*
Foo Fighters
Mary J. Blige
(shout out to DJ Cassidy for introducing me to Sam Cooke's "Havin' A Party")

DNC Speakers

In addition to hearing wonderful speakers like Julian Castro (below); the DNC will also hear from First Lady Michelle Obama, Elizabeth Warren, Bill Clinton, and of course Vice-President Biden and President Barack Obama!

I know I'll cry - heck, I teared up watching the video:

We won't be hearing from this guy - he'll be speaking at the RNC:

They're Getting Ready!

Here's a brief video of the Convention Hall - we'll be convening there on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, and holding various caucus meetings there, as well:

There's an app for that

The DNC just released an app for those interested in the upcoming convention in Charlotte (that'd be me!)

The app is called DNC 2012 and includes news releases, maps, and listings of stuff to do around Charlotte. Perhaps most important is that the app will air live video on the Tuesday and Wednesday of the convention - that means you can watch the keynote address with me on Tuesday and former President Clinton on Wednesday! Not sure what they're doing about President Obama's acceptance on Thursday - but you'll want to watch that on a big screen anyway, I suspect.

App is free and available for iPhones & Android, so go get it!

A Bright Blue Dot...

Yes, in Alabama I honestly am a blue dot in a red state. Thankfully in Charlotte I'll be a blue dot in a sea of blue! That being said, I wanted to honor my trip with a new cap (my old faithful cleans up pretty well but is getting bedraggled). I went to the Bright Blue Dot website, no hats. So I wrote them on Facebook and told them my sad story and if they just HAPPENED to come across one...

Guess what was in the mail today?

and if you think you glimpse it when they pan the crowd during the President's acceptance speech - remember you saw it here first (and a big SHOUT OUT to Joellyn, the original Blue Dot!)
